I just came back from the memorial service of AWCM Andrew C. Helber who was killed on November 14th 2009 while riding his motorcycle.
A drunk driver lost control of his car in a turn and crossed lanes impacting the Master Chief and killing him.
He worked right next door to my office. We used to pass each other in the hallway always dressed in our riding gear. We rode when most other riders didn't!
He was as hardcore as they come (typical Master Chief from my experiences), and had served in the Navy for over 29 years. Had his retirement paperwork submitted.
Please take a moment today to wish his family the best in their time of pain.
You folks out there ride safe and be careful. Remember to kiss your spouse, hug your kids, pet your dog, or whatever. You never know when's the last time you'll throw your leg over your bike.
