Quick question.

Hey everyone,

Just a quick question.

I’m putting a different clutch in my bike, and when I pulled the clutch carrier out, I had transmission fluid start leaking into my primary. Is that normal? I’m just wanting to make sure before I start putting her back together.

It didn’t leak until I pulled the carrier.

Well fellas. I have another question now lol. Got all my new clutch parts in and what have you. But now I can’t get the clutch adjusted correctly.

I did the usual tighten until you feel resistance and back of a half turn. I’ve tried it several times, and when I put the bike in gear the clutch is grabbing. No matter how I adjusted it.

Any ideas?

I don't know where this 1/2 turn came from, your the second person this week that has told me that. The manual says 1/4 turn. I do just over an 1/8 turn.

Harley's are 1/2 turns, I think most just assume it's the same?

I had the factory 12 plate clutch in the bike. Put the billet carrier, 9 plate clutch, and the heavier spring. Do you think my issue is the ball and ramp?

I’m not saying that’s ur problem but from a friend who has that setup says it’s a lot harder to find that sweet spot on adjustment.

Try the adjusting mentioned above 1/4 1/8 and even a 1/16 , cable NEEDS to be loose when adjusting
You can adjust it in tiny bits without doing the whole cable business. Mine was grabbing a tiny bit and you can loosen the locknut and turn the allen head just fine. For the initial adjustment, cable loose, friction then back out 1/8-1/4. From there if you need a bit more either way you can do it without messing with the cable.

So you guys are still going to resistance and then backing off?

I called baker yesterday and he said to possibly tighten the Allen head til it stops turning and then back it off?

What’s your thoughts?

I haven’t had a chance to try readjusting yet.

NO NO NO
I'm sure he meant stops turning freely.
You can continue to tun that allen till you put excess force on the throwout bearing and damage it. Seen it happen!

You know, I never counted my plates when I changed mine, maybe I had 12 and that's why adjusting mine is a PITA. Have to go count the old plates now!

And you tighten it too much the rod could bend or wear out the that conical end pretty good
