Okay, not quite (actually far from it) Ed's caliber, but it still came out pretty good. Start to finish in one day. It was for a member on here (Thumper29) who wanted it done for the Law Enforcment club he is a member of (Road Dawgs Motorcycle Club).
The steps for the paint were as follows:
scuffed the helmet then laid out an American flag. Buried the flag with a transparent black. The flag is only visible in bright lights or sunlight, otherwise it appears to be gloss black.
Did his nickname (Thumper) and added some blue flames
Added the bulldog, then the National Law Enforcement emblem (blue badge with rose)
Added the "Road Dawgs" then using pinstripe paint, hand painted the 100% law enforcement.
Cleared and then buffed the following day.

You can see how the helmet appears to be just a black basecoat. Now here are some pics in the direct sunlight. See how subtle the flag is
