PUSHROD TUBES

I adjusted the pushrods a few days ago now when i ride any distance i have oil on my Batt. cover. What i would like to know is what do you have to remove to get to the o-rings on the pushrod tubes.I think i know but i would like to here from somebody smart.

If you don't have quicky pushrods then you have to pop the rocker cover and pull the rocker block so you can pull the push rods out.

Curtis do you have the o-rings for the tubes and for the rocker box cover?

Maybe you have one pinched instead of properly being seated.

Vern it maybe easier to reseat the tube on the o'ring if the leak is from there.
It is important that the 2 (o ring and tube) have no dirt anywhere.
I usually give each a squirt with a contact cleaner then apply white petrolum grease to both surfaces, then without too much force and twisting motion allow everything to bed together, if it feels tight, you may have pinched the o-ring. If you have to replace o'rings it may be easier to take off the tappet cover, undo the rocker and using a piece of wire change the o ring. I have used this method on Harley's with great success.

One other way is to cut pushrods out with good pair of bolt cutters and install the quikie pushrods so you can put new seals on pushrod covers without removing the rocker covers.

I have been screwing with that leak for a couple of weeks with no luck, what are quickie pushrods and how much are they

Quickie push rods are rods that you can collapse which will allow you to remove the tubes without removing the rocker box covers or push rod stanchions:

S&S sells them give them a call and talk to them they will steer you in the right direction I don't have part number

If you do decide to cut the old pushrods out make sure you relieve pressure on them first or you'll have a missile to deal with lol

Are you sure you didn't just put the upper tubes in upside down????
