Pushrod Adjustment - 3 turn, 3 1/2 turn, 4 turn??

I have a S&S 107 and it has a ticking sound when it gets warm - especially on hot days. I am going to try adjusting the pushrods first.

I have read:

so I feel comfortable doing this.

My question is that the thread and the video both state 3 turns (18 flats), but I have heard and read anything from 3 to 4 turns.

What is the reason / benefit to adding a 1/2 to full turn?

What are people using and have found to reduce the ticking sounds?

32 threads per inch
3.2 threads equals .10 which iS 1/2 the travel of the lifter
More turns equals less travel
Less dependent.t on oil pump up.

You adjust by threads per inch,as Marv said. :up:
The picture shows the small diameter Crane pushrods.3 turns are proper.
S&S pushrods are 4 turns.You need to measure what you have,and adjust accordingly with the cylinder at TDC compression stroke.

I will be adjusting mine as well, my motor is pretty noisey.
