Push Start

Thought I would share this most probably new this. When heading to Daytona’s Biktoberfest last year we stop for about ten minute because of the rain then my bike wouldn’t start. First push was a tire locking failure! Then Big Chet my buddy’s friend with the rolling couch (Gold Wing) said hit the starter next time so the compression release engage!! Not a bad tip from a 350-pound Honda dude!!!
Oh it worked great no more problems the rest of the day. Except the rain all the way home!:2thumbs:

similar has happened to me, so now out of habit,i always push the compression releasees in before starting,no problems since

Having done it a couple times back with the orginal start days, I found to turn key on, hit the run button (should activate the compression release), give it the two twist (and enricher if needed), pull in clutch, put 3rd gear, get it rolling good and pop clutch.

In my case started up everytime with no problems. A couple of times without a push and just a small down hill to get her rolling!

What about opening the garage door and putting up the kickstand?

I'm not quite sure about the third gear thing...? Don't you want the engine to turn over as fast as it can?

there is less resistance in the higher gears, makes the engine turn over easier....

Exactly..1st will just lock up your wheel on a push...2nd or 3rd gear works OK

this is a true thing! just be ready to pull in the clutch when it fires to keep it from dying and then go ahead thru the gears. :2thumbs:
