some of the HID lights have a 6 amp (or more) surge on startup (but only 3 after warming up) that is not good for our EHC.Having ridden with the HID, Navra 50 plus bulbs, silverstars etc, I'll take the HID every time.
I'll rewire the headlight out of the EHC system if need be.....
If you use the stock wires to trigger a relay your EHC should be better than stock (which usually sees 3-5 amps withe the stock bulb). just run a fused wire from the battery to the relay and a ground wire all the way back to the battery.
I think that some of the HID kits for a low/high beam come with a relay anyway, so you just have to run a new power and ground to the relay.
HID lights are supposedly much better, but only when used with reflector and lens designed for them because the bulb is different than the regular bulb.
