Primary whining on decel

Well today i tore into the Chopper to see ifanything was wrong inside the primary. I found nothing! The magnet on the drain plug had a little dirt on it but nothing to worry about and the primary fluid didn't smell burnt so i don't think it's the stator. I adjusted the primary chain tension ( it wasn't loose but actually tight,i adjusted it to within the 5/8 to 7/8 ratio). Replaced all the gaskets and filled it back up with Rev Tech primary Fluid. I drained the Transmission Fluid and to my suprise the dealership apparently used Rev Tech trans fluid. Not Synthetic either!!!! I picked up some Redline Heavy Shockproof Gear Oil and went to fill up the trans when I had a brainfart and couldn't remember how many ounces it took. I remember on here someone said 16oz but my owners manual said 20oz. I said FUCK IT and called Baker Drivetrain, told them what i had and asked them how much fluid to put in it. To my suprise both were wrong, Baker told me to put 20 to 24oz of fluid in my Transmission! It's all back together but it's pouring outside so i will have to wait to do the test ride. Hopefully the whining sound has left. Will keep everybody posted...

Sorry for the typo, they told me 20 to 24oz of fluid... same difference. I put 22oz in.

I always thought the recemmended amount was 23 oz. I'm sure an oz either way won't make any difference.

Anything new on this? You might spray your belt with some silicon and see it that's giving you the sound you are hearing. The silicon will quiet it down for a while.

Ok. well today there was a break in the rain so I took the Chop out for a spin. No noise what-so-ever. I have no idea what i did to fix it. The only thing i can think of is that the tranny fluid was shot and after replacing it with redline it's all better? One would think that the primary chain would get looser not tighter but what do i know. I actually loosened it and i would think that if it was too tight i would have noticed the noise earlier. So, i'm summing this one up to the shitty Non Synthetic Rev Tech Trans Fluid being worn out. It seemed really thin and dark in color. In the end I checked everything in the primary for tightness, loosened (adjusted) the primary chain, changed primary fluid, changed trans fluid and adjusted the clutch just to be safe. One of those seemed to be the magical one. If anyone can think of something i missed let me know but for now my attitude is "NO MORE NOISE"="NO MORE PROBLEM" For all of you who threw me you insight, Ray,Gas etc. Thank you very much I appreciate it. You probably saved me a few hours in troubleshooting and definately a few hundred $$$$ in labor to do simple maintenance. Thanks again.

Glad you got it fixed one way or the other. I believe my 06 manual said just what baker does... 20-24oz.
