Primary oil

The reason I asked is because I am new to these bikes. I had work done on it were they replaced the main bearings gaskets and seals in the transmission he Took the clutch out checked everything and put it back in. I was riding it and the clutch started slipping and I barely made it home. So I was thinking they may have put synthetic in the primary. What’s weird is I can put the bike in first gear and still push it and it will roll it’s not easy but it was still roll so I’m wondering if the clutch is gone

What year bike was this again? I use Lucas Primary Oil. Non-Synthetic. It sounds like you need to check your clutch setup. I am going to guess that they didn’t adjust it correctly when they put your clutch pack back together. Pretty easy to do & then you will know for sure where they left the clutch adjustment at. And after you do that if it’s still slipping you are likely going to need to change the clutch pack out. Keep us posted!DA42C326-CCD4-44A7-9704-ECFD6E557F05.jpeg

It’s a 2007 k9. It was running fine then eventually started slipping till it barely would go. Just did make it up the driveway

I would for sure drain it & change the fluid if you don’t know what they put in. Could be Redline which would be the worst case scenario. Then check the clutch adjustment. If you haven’t done it before, check out Markymarcs video on YouTube. Good luck Brother!

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
If you paid for repairs and the bike is not right, take the bike back to the shop that worked on it. They obviously did something wrong. Even a worn clutch should get you up your driveway.
Find out what oil they put in. I use ATF. If they put in some full syn, replace it and have them ride it to see if it slips.
The clutch might have been installed incorrectly. Could be anything from leaving out a spacer (ask how I know about that one haha) to not properly torquing the clutch hub nut. They are definitely known to loosen from vibration and cause slippage.
The clutch might be worn out, but you insist it ran right when you took it in for repairs. Unexpected that it would suddenly start slipping that badly.
The total stack height should be at least 1.96”. That is with all of the discs under some compression. Any skinnier that that—expect the clutch to soon start slipping. If you rode it a ways with the clutch slipping that badly, it might be worn out by now. The friction form that kind of slippage produces a lot of wear In a hurry.
At minimum, if it was my bike, I’d (1). change the oil to ATF (28-32 oz) (2). check the clutch Hub nut torque (100 ft lbs. is spec—Blacktopper always says use 125 ft. lbs. with red loctite). Works for me. If you find it’s loose, that’s probably your problem. (3). Adjust the clutch as directed by the manual below. See if those things help.
If not, the clutch will probably have to come out to really know what’s wrong. That means back to the guys who did the job in the first place.

Well redline was put in the transmission so I had all the bearings and seals replaced. I drained the primary and put Lucas in it. The 20/50 non synthetic
