Primary Compensator Nut Issue

Guys, have been chasing this Gremlin for about 4 days now. I have an 04 Mastiff and I was on a ride this past weekend and compensator nut backed off and was rubbing inside the primary. I did what any good biker would do...yank the cover off and tighten with a adjustable wrench until i could get home while recovering the primary fluid in a trash bag...:job:

When I got home I took everything apart again, tightened the nut and used red loctite. Now the compensator sprocket seems to have a "clank" to it and when I shut the bike off it gets a final "clank". I have it apart again to see if there is anything i am missing. I started it and let it run a second with the cover off (what a freakin mess by the way) and I could plainly see where the sound was coming from.

No wobbles or anything loose...chain is according to manual. I was reading in the manual about "Compansator Sprocket Backlash" and it should be corrected, but damn manual says nothing about how to correct:confused: Im not sure that is what it is, but I am runnin out of ideas.

ANY IDEAS????:bang: I am gonna try and attach a pics.

I The second photo shows the top view...the two parts of the compensator that come together is where the problem is...it seems like there should be a spacer, spring or something to keep a constant tension on them so they dont "chatter".

The photo was taken after I loosened the chain. Sorry for the confusion.

I have checked around and the places that sell replacements look exactly the same (number of parts) I have now. Cover under the nut talks about a spring. Does anyone know or have a photo of one I can compare it to?

This was one of the biggest reasons I switched to a belt drive. I wiped out 2 stators on my 04. Well I have never heard of setting the backlash on the compensator. All I have ever had to do is clean the nut real good with some brake cleaner and use red loctite and torque to something like 175 ft. lbs. of torque. In some cases its not uncommon to have to shave about .030 off the backside of the compensator nut. Also double check you didn't lose any spacers that might have been in place. Here's a little pdf file on a compensator assembly.
