My buddy has a Texas Chopper like mine and the pressure release valve blew out if his front cylinder.
Anyone know how to install a new one???

Did the thin rod come out of the compression release ? If so you'll need to buy a new release from S&S, or a shop that stocks them.
If the WHOLE release blew out of the head, and took the threads with it, you're SOL. :bang: The threads in the head that secure the release are proud, so an insert or Heli-coil will do no good. You'll need to replace the head.

I replaced the compression release on my Texas Chopper a couple years ago. At least your was the front one, mine was the rear cylinder (pain in the ass). They are not hard to do its just all the crap you have to remove and the back bone of the frame is right in the way. The front should be a breeze. They are expensive and they only come in a set (you have to buy two). S&S sets the price so you probably won't find it cheaper by shopping around.

Electric Compression Release Kit

This is the special two piece socket you need to remove the compression release. You might be able to make something else work since you will have a lot of frame clearance on the front cylinder.

I have two machinists working for me as I type, they don't know what the hell "proud" is. Even looked in the machinist hand book. So again, anyone know what proud is?

I'm not positive but i believe that it means:

Threads that are potruding out of the base material vs the hole size
Threads that are cut into the base hole size.

So a standard 1/4" hole that is tapped would allow a pc a 1/4" rod to pass thru.

Where as a 1/4" hole with "proud" threads would only allow a 3/16" or less rod to pass thru.

I don't know the terms either.

I guess it means the in short terms the hole for the comp release is threaded with male threads vs female threads.

Or so Jim Beam Told me.

I believe the comp releases are 12mm. Not a bad job to do worse part is putting the stupid condom over it with out breaking it. I had to do the rear cyl on mine and ended up pulling the rocker box to get it done. :bang:

Sorry guys. My buddy put the scoot away over the winter and we kind of forgot about it. It's a 111 S&S.
Anyone local have that tool?
