Possible EHC problem?

I have an 07 Mastiff and have never had any problems with the EHC however when out riding over the weekend my tach went out and never came back on. When I turned the key off and then restarted the bike the tach worked fine and I have started and riden a couple of times with no issue. Is this a sign of an EHC on it's last leg? Any comments or advice is greatly appreciated.

I have also been debating on switching over to a WP set up, is that the way to go?

Thanks,

Are you sure it went out while riding? And was not just not on from the start?

I know if I don't let the speedo sweep completly on mine and start the bike the tach won't work till I shut down turn key off and back on.

As said above check your connections from the tach to the ehc. Also check the tach circuit board down at the bottom for corrision. If speedo gets wet water will settle at the bottom of this circuit board and cause corrision. Whether it is corroided or not you may want to go ahead and coat the bottom of the circuit board with RTV or something to protect it.

PS. Go to the intro section and tell us who you are.

Also, due to vibration, the wires going into and connectiing to the back of the tach have been know to eventually break. Just take a good look at the wires connection to the back of the tach circuit board for good connection. And like Ruff said, a good coat of dielectric grease is always good to prevent moisture from causing issues. Anytime I got caught in a rain, my tach would go haywire until it completely dried.
