Positive Big Dog experience- TO ALL NEWBEE"S

Alicat

Hanging out
I was just reading a post about newbee's coming to this site and seeing nothing but negative experiences or problem bikes.
This site certainly is about us sharing problems with our Big Dogs. Every Bike has problems that come up especially high powered bikes like ours.
What you don't hear is the Hundreds of us that have all our little problems straightened out and are very happy with our Dogs.
Yes some of us have had problems, but the company has taken care of most all of them.
BESIDES, I LOVE RIDING MY BIKE! On my harley yea, it was nice to go for a cruise BUT, on my BIG DOG I just love hoping on it and blasting down the road. It's like my Harley was a Cadillac and my Dog is a Ferrari.
And in truth, I used to drive a 6 series and a 7 series BMWs and I had many more problems with those 80K cars than my 30K Big Dog.
So for those who are lurking here seeing all the problems just be aware you are only seeing the problems not those of us that are happy with our bikes.

RIDE IT HARD!!!
I couldn't agree more Al. My HD Deuce was nice but it blended in with every other HD out there even after all the $$$ I threw at it trying to make it stand out. But my Dog stands out the way it should and it is a lot more fun throwing my leg over that than it ever was over my Deuce!!!

BMD warranty coverage on my 2005 Chopper was amazingly outstanding! They fix every problem with a smile and in a very timely manner. They even go the extra mile and cover things that normal companies will not. I was so impressed with BDM, when I was considering a 2nd bike, I bought a K9 without hesitation!

I did not own a Harley when I bought this Mastiff, but have owned a couple in my past, but when asked (by my Harley owning friends) why the Big Dog, well, that says it all. I did NOT want a cookie cutter bike that blended in with all the others. I wanted unique, and I got unique. All my friends have way more $$$$ in their Harleys, JUST trying to make them unique. I bought mine, as is, with the ultimate uniqueness...!! Mine stands out in a crowd and not become part of the crowd.!!!

Love my Mastiff...!!!

Long live "Statutory Grape"..!!

I agree Al......I have had my little problems , but nothing to complain about...everything has been taking care of....but all in all.....I wouldn't trade my dog for anything!:2thumbs: I enjoy riding my scoot.....every chance I get...and I am proud to be a Big Dog owner!:whoop:

I have no negatives on my Big Dog! Like you have or had Harley's ...they are good to cruise and take to the local bowling alley...No one gives it a second thought because you see so many of them...:rant:unless you add another 10k-15k to them then you have something like a Big Dog:confused:

BUT you are noticed on a stock Big Dog! and it is a solid machine that is as well built a custom motorcycle anyone would want or desire. So I am in total agreement with you Al...no complaints no problems...Big Dog is (No ka Oi #1 in Hawaiian) :2thumbs: Let's ride...:choppersmiley:

I used to like riding my Harley, but now I LOVE riding the Dog. Next weekend will be two years since I last rode the Harley that is sitting in the garage.

I had an issue last weekend and my dealer took care of it quickly and even picked up my pup in their trailer for delivery to the dealer. :2thumbs:

BTW, BDM has an excellent Reputation for fixing items. What they will not fix is obvious abuse.

AND, we post our issues on this forum NOT to bitch, but to keep the pups in excellent running condition, resulting in a forum full of How To's and help me's. There are prolly a couple hundred of these, which pale in comparison to the 29,000 bikes BDM has released from the Kennel.

These bikes are bad ass and fun to ride.

Can you ride your Harley or sport bike for 600-700 miles a day? Big Dog owners can.

i think the bike is a nice design, but they could have built it a little better, the bikes are put together on a assembly line, just like a car,so thats why there are so many problems,i built my own bike,it was a ridgid 250 pro street with a 113 elbruto polished motor and 6speed,gota say im not perfect but the bike didnt give me any problems like this one i have now 2005 ridgeback,if it werent for this website i would have sold this shambo, but with the help of this site and the SO MANY been there down that problems you guys really make it easier to fix... so thank you ..as for bdm they are of no help to me and a bunch of other people ive spoke with and rode with that have these bikes, if you have the warranty thats different, but i bought this bike used private owner.i asked bdm if i could get the extended warranty cause the bike had 500miles when i bought it,and they said no,now i no why its a problem child...lol

also any jersey dogs out there stay away from creative cycles in wall nj, i have reported them to bdm over the phone and bdm still backs them..in the owners manual it tells you how to do a service, well when i had my 500 mile service done the only thing they did was the recalls, and changed fluids, thats it,after i picked the bike up everything was loose and falling off the bike,i called them and asked them if they checked all the fastners, nuts, bolts, electrical components etc. and they said what are you crazy that would take us 2 days to do and it would cost a lot more then the $500 we charged you for the service, bdm doesnt require us to do that..i said what are you guys talking about it states it in the manual with a check list of what to do,they said we dont do that,i called bdm twice and they said there suppose to do that, and basically a oh well sorry..so stay away or do it yourself. i know of other people with bigdogs that went there and will never go there again.

Delly, bought my K9 used also...Bigdog has gone above and beyond the call on my bike. Just got it back after a transmission failure. They rebuilt the transmission for free. My warranty had expired a few months ago.

This forum would be a little boring if all we did was post that we went riding and nothing happened everyday. Most people post when theres a problem to get some answers. I've had a few problems but nothing that would make me want to buy a Harley or Honda. Still love the dog.

bdm listens to the dealer,if the dealer stinks then your in trouble most likely..i hope my tranny doesnt go,cause thats just gonna be another 3000 dollars.i have a 05 yamaha sportbike also, and they are great they take care of everything.

Very true about the dealer being the key here. If your dealer sucks by all means find another one. If you have to drive 200 miles farther to go to a good dealer or service center...do it.

I went from my 89 Ninja to my 03 pitbull, and the Ninja has been problem free. Since I bought the pitbull in 07 there was no warranty. So I have not had to deal with any dealerships(closet one is 3 hours away)so I can't complaint about service of BDM as a company. Pitbull has run GREAT and the only issue I have had was fixing the "cob job" the previous owner had done. No complaints and VERY satisfied with the bike. It amazes me how well the bike runs no matter how hard I push it and it always asks for more.
