please help - Wire Plus mod but still smoke

First time to post. Any help will be appreciated. I have a 2003 Mastiff that is not cooperating. Hooked it up to the battery charger and tried to start. Smoke billowed from under the tank. The EHC looked and smelled burnt. Ordered the Wire Plus mod and installed today.
Put on the battery charger and tried to start only to have smoke sgain.
Looks like now I fried the new wire plus system. any ideas?

If you have smoke coming from under the tank, you probably have at least one shorted wire. Maybe something rub the insulation away on a wire and it's short to another wire or the frame.

You need to figure out what's smoking under your tank first.

Thanks Tim. I dont know exactly what the part is called. The smoke is coming from what looks to be a heat sink of sorts. This is on the new wire plus system.

I guess my first question would be, why are you trying to start it while it's on a charger, or am I misunderstanding you? Let the battery charge up then take it off the charger and start it, just saying...

A "heat sink" thing sounds like your voltage regulator, and those have been known to short to ground eventually and burn up. I think that was the main reason they did the fuse recall way back when. Can you get more specific as to the location of the smoking part? How many wires go into/out of it? Where do they land?
