Pitbull Fuel Tank

I gotta a question concerning the fuel tank on the Pitbull. I recently test drove a 2008 Pitbull. Never ridden one before. While at a stop light the motor died on me. I figured out that there is a fuel selector valve and I was able to get moving again.

Is this just something people get used to on this model? I understand that this may be normal due to the tank shape. I guess i'm wondering if this is a pain in the ass for owners or if there is a practical way with living with this. I'm guessing that the selector would be turned to draw fuel from the main part of the tank and then the small upper area is used as a reserve?

What have you ridden before? No offense but all bikes (American) have a fuel valve unless its a newer EFI model

Okay, owners manual has reference to it. Off, reserve and on. Different models have different positions.

Valve is stamped with the position's. If you need an owners manual I can probably hook you up

Same here, ran out of fuel a couple times on the highway....pretty cool feeling to quickly turn the reserve on while in motion. Keep right on riding....lol
