So when i bought my bike, the guy rode it over to my house and he had his phone charger hooked up under the seat somehow. I wanted to do this with my charger but i dont see where he hooked it up and i cant seem to get ahold of him to ask him how he did it. Any one done this or have any ideas? In my truck i plug the usb cord into the adapter and then into the 12v cig lighter. Can i just wire my usb into any 12v from the bike? Or does it require lower voltage. No info on my charger as to what voltage it requires.

Sounds like a 12 volt charlger for your car?? hook it up straight to the battery. Might want to add a low amp inline fuse.

Well i have a detachable USB cord the plugs into an adapter for a cigarette lighter in a car or a wall adapter. Im assuming the wall adapter has some sort of transformer inside but the cig lighter Im not sure. I dont want to plug it into 12v if it only needs 6-9v. Scared I will fry something. I guess Ill google and see what I can find out.

They sell them at Pep Boys or AutoZone. Just wire it to the battery, all car cig lighters are 12v, and make sure you fuse it for 3a.

They make a cigarette lighter that plugs into your tender harness.Thats how he did it. Then plug phone charger in.

Ok I see. Well that kind of answers my question. That adapter would be simple but I could do a cleaner install myself. Thinking Ill just find a 12V USB outlet and wire it into the battery with an inline fuse. Then I could have a permanent outlet to plug my cord into. Theres not real need for the cigarette lighter outlet in my case. Thanks

Just did some research. On my phone the internal circuitry on the battery regulate the current it draws but it only requires 5.1-5.5 volts. If I were to use 12v it could overheat the battery and screw it up or at the very least greatly reduce the life of the battery. So I gonna see what I can find to rig up something. Does anyone know of a lower voltage source on the bike?

All you need is a 12v cigarette power adapter USB charger. Those are 5v. Best to find one that has a 2amp output. you can find them on ebay for about $3.

You can wire up a cigarette power adapter like the one shown in the pic above and plug it into that, or you can take it apart add attach wires to it directly and too thae battey. The wire that leads to the side terminal is negative and the wire that leads to the center is positive. I would include a 3-5 amp inline fuse as well.

As long as you have 12Volts to the outlet and use your phone CAR charger it'll work.
