phantom pipe question

So i just bought my dog. The previous owner installed the yaffe phantom 2to1 . I love the look! But im notorious for tinkering and since the bike is new to me im going through and making adjustments to everything. I understand its a drag pipe designed for high rpm powerbut it just seems a little sluggish under about 3-4k. Ive adjusted the carbs a little .i tried a slightly richer idle mixture. Seemed to help a little. Im not sure if it was rejetted when the pipe was installed. Ive readjusted the clutch and it was a little off but i dont think there was ever any slippage. Any opinions or suggestions?

That pipe is not really a performance pipe. It's more for show. I had it on my bike and lost some hp and torque. My bike pulled well through the entire rpm range and never had a problem. Make sure your carb is jetted properly and set up right. You should not feel sluggishness. Try XXX your carb that will help.

Yeah I know its not for performance. Just seems too sluggish at lower rpm's. What exactly is XXX?

Another question, will baffling the pipe make a big difference? And how could I do it myself without buying an expensive baffle kit?
