Phantom Pipe Baffles?

One of my riding buddies just bought a Big Bear Sled Chopper from Strokers in Dallas. He had them install a Phantom pipe while were were there. I've heard the phantom on Big Dogs and they are pretty loud. They aren't really loud at all on his bike. He wants to pull the baffles out. Has anyone done this? I haven't looked at them, but he seems to think they are spot welded in. We should be able to knock them out, right?

I didnt think those pipes came with baffles. Maybe Rainman or one of the guys who have them will chime in

There are no baffles in those pipes. Maybe those guys could have put a set of torque cones in there. I would ask the dealer if they installed any torque cones. You loose a lot of torque with those pipes because they are so short and there is no back pressure what so ever.

No baffles in those bad boys. I have the torque cones and its hard to say if I notice them.

Only if it's a 04/05. It only affects 350 frames and only one frame has busted!

i just got a set of those pipes and there is a steel mesh screen in the pipe to create back pressure. why would you want to punch this out. no back pressure and your bike will not run so good down low

Thanks guys. He punched the screens out. I told him he would lose some low end. He wants it "LOUD". He was tired of the Dog barking louder that his bear was growling. Didn't notice a huge power loss. I've heard that these pipes aren't really that great for performance anyway. I haven't been real impressed with his bear so far. He's had it a week and he's already had fuel starvation problems, a stuck gas cap (it wasn't vapor lock, it had burrs in the pop-up groove), and now it smokes ( I think he is fouling plugs). He didn't like it when I told him his Bear smelled like a weed-eater. It looks good, but the fit and finish isn't as good as our Dogs.
