On sunday I go out to the garage. I open the overhead door getting ready to run the dog .

all is good but the fenders and tank are rather dusty so take the detail spray and spray them down. no problem .

I should mention that I run a battery tender on the bike battery and my seat was sitting on the floor. I live in the northwest so it isnt real cold right now but its making its way to winter.

when i turned around from putting the detail spray and rag on the bench my seat is smokeing...
WTF i race over to the seat its a foot from the drip line on the bike there is nothing dripping wasnt smoking then there was nothing ...i grab the seat is melting unbelievable..

AS it turns out.....

the sun was hitting the primary cover just right on the concave and the seat was just in the right position on the floor. with the sun at the precise location in the sky it formed a prsym and melted the seat with a nice perfect arc about an Inch and a half long. not to mention i had the battery tender on so my seat was off to begin with i took the two minutes to wipe the tank and fenders down. it was just unbeleiveable but with my own two eye, Cant blame the ex for this one, damn it.

Had something similar happen years ago. I had a 70 Z-28 that I put in car shows. I had a few mirrors made up that had the specs of the car listed on them.

I sold it to a girl & she thought the mirrors were cool and left them inside it when she drove it. Unfortunately, she parked it one day with one of the mirrors laying in the seat turned up. The sun burnt the headliner out (nice clean line about 1" wide).

Sun doing anything damaging here is the NW is not a thing we ever think or worry about, yet that is Murphys Law for you. Now you have a great reason to send the seat to Sterling to have it costomized for your scoot:D:2thumbs:

Don't know if it'll fit or not, but I have an extra custom stitched gel seat off an '07 chopper.

Wow Jim, and on one of our bright sunny days. Sorry to hear that happened. Send your seat to Seatmaker, he'll make it better...:2thumbs:

I am almost thinking of leaving the seat scorched and using it cause there isnt a sole alive that will believe me with out the full explanation. It will become a conversation piece. I would rather have the conversation about how I won the lottery and was able to pay it off. but this is the type luck I have Not the lottery style

When I remove my seat to put the tender on I turn the seat 180 degrees and set the suction cups to the rear fender a couple inches above the battery, it's out of the way and off the floor.
