I bought one of those spike top motor mount/ dual coil setups and I was going to paint the coils the color of my graffix. I got a quote of $80 to paint both of them. Is that a fair price or should I look around?

honestly its cheap,i would charge 2 hours per coil.at $40 an hour plus $24 an hour paint materials.2 of them hours for repair of the coils.... total cost coming to$208.....so $80 is really cheap

I forgot to mention when I paid the $100 for mine that I supplied the paint because I had a quart at home. They supplied the clear and rest of the materials. And another thing, I didn't specify to paint the mounting lugs and so they masked them off and didn't paint them. So when I got them I masked off the fresh paint and painted the lugs with some high temp black. Turned out OK but don't forget to tell them if you want them painted as well.

How did the painted coils hold up? I spray painted mine black but am constantly touching them up. I scratch them getting on and off the bike and cleaning it.

yea I have to drive my bike over there with the coils to match the paint to the graffix. I'm going to have it all painted. It should be pretty quick. I sanded down everything smooth with 220. when it stops raining here, after work I will do it.

220 is too rough to paint basecoat clearcoat over,or for that matter really any paint, well you can paint it but the scratches will show back up....the way i did mine was grinded them down really flat and smooth, and filling any airpocket holes with fine body plastic, eventually sanding with 180 and coating with a special raw plastic/rubber specially formulated adhesive promoter before priming them, then sanding them flat once again with 320,sealing them with PPGs dp series epoxy primer/sealer,puttin 2 coats of black basecoat and then 2 coats of PPGs clear...they look like 2 black mirrors in between the chrome coil bracket........so thats how i would do anyones, and thats why i would hit some one off that walked in off the streets that i dont know for $200:up:

I'll take a pic of mine also when I get a chance. I'm packing up the house to move into the new place so my garage is packed.
