Paint *****UPDATE*****

Ok so after I went to go see "my guy" on saturday after the toys for tots run it turns out it is worse then first thought. I thought we could get away with just sanding down and re clearing. Then I noticed that it was pealing around the strut on the front fender so knew it was going to be more involved then first thought.

So........got there and great day out sun shinning and bike looking good until we started looking real close. Come to find out my problem is definately in the clear and is going to ruin my whole paint job if it is not attended to sometime soon in the near future.

Come to find out the graphics on my tins was all hand painted which i knew, but when he finished and started the clearing process he didn't clean and prep the tins well enough and left some of the oils from his hands where he pressed down while doing the custom art work!

So now after the fact it is starting to peel and the imperfections are popping up left and right now. If I just let it go eventually it will just peel off!!:bang:

So know I have a couple of choices here................

1) Completely sand down and re paint the tins and "NO" more custom graphics!!

2) Try to sand down and attempt to save graphics then re shoot around it and clear it enough to make it smoothe again ( problem here no guarantee it will hold up and not peel again later)

3) Take pics of graphics and digitize them and make them into a sticker and then have my boy air brush some highlights and stuff to make it look more real then we can just re paint whole tins and hopefully never have to worry about this again.

4) Have my boy try to paint graphics himself to look like what I have and have an all custom paint job again but we are talking "MO MONEY" for this!!

Well..........I love the graphics but will be costly even tho my business can make the stickers for the project and to redo all the graphics I just don't have that kinda cash right now. Just not what I wanted to hear but is the reality of what needs to be done. So for now I will ride as much as I can then put her away for the winter and decide what I am going to do about her paint.:(

The name of your paint job is "Switchblade GPO81". Looks like a candy red base. toward the end of BDM, they were using a water transfer for the graphic. Then the artist would airbrush highlite hotspots here and there. It still looked like pixelated crap tho.

My painter and I looked at it and he said it looked hand painted..............no sharp edges and really looked like brush strokes for edges. If they wherent very good likeness! Either way must be redone eventually.
