Are you looking at spending the night out under the stars? If so would look at some good quality sleeping bags from North Face, Sierra Design, etc. Ones that have good syth fill and compact very tight. If you are looking for a tent, recommend a good back packing tent that is designed for 2 people that is self supporting. Pay attention to the pack dimensions.
With the sissy bar, you should be able to be able to pack light with a couple of good sleeping bags, a small tent a change of clothes. With some good planning most will fit in a T-bags.
Here is one of the tents I use for Backpackingg and is highly recommended:
Sierra Designs: Tents: Clip Flashlight 2
Here is an excellent sleeping bag for down to about 15+, packs very nice, is lite and hold up easy. That and easy to clean.
The North Face - Gear - Sleeping Bags -> Above 15°F / -9°C -> Synthetic / Cat's Meow
You should be able to pack two of these type of sleeping bags inside a Large T-Bag, and still have room for the extra clothes and misc. YOu can load the tent oor the side of the T-Bag. If you put a Roll Bag on the front bars such as a T-Bag (recommend large leather and use some protection between bag and triple tree and light, something like lamb skin).
