Outer Primary Oil

OK so been tinkering with the Dog for a few months and got her running pretty darn good except for a little leak I only get when she has been road hard all day and its just enough over night to leave her mark!:up:

So my question is after installing the new clutch cable finally got the clutch adjusted up right, hand lever not to stiff, releasing at the right spot now, tire shreading in 1st and 2nd gear, but I am still not happy with higher gear slippage? It's about as good as I can get it but still a little there. She only has 7,500 miles on her so wouldn't think it was the actual clutch slipping but what I do think it is is the Outer Primary Oil I used this time. Since it is a wet clutch system I know this will make a different and I used Rev Tech Oil. From what I have heard not the best Oil for the job.

So question is what kind of Oil is the best for this system?

I like the spectro heavey duty primary oil myself. Mine started leaking a little bit when it was hot and I found the 2 allen bolts at the inner primary in the front were not real tight.

Rev Tech Oil is recommended aint nothing wrong with it IMO

Most any that says "Primary fluid" and for use with "wet clutches".
As far as your clutch being worn at 7500 miles, it's not unheard of. New 12 plate clutch pack is $197.00...Updated Pressure plate is another $50.
Make sure your diaphragm spring is at least .050". If not, you can shim it to get the height using Rivera Primo clutch spring shims

Ok thanks guys. Going to pull cover Sunday and have a look. Just the fact it will light the tire up in lower gears is why I don't think it's the clutch.

The stock clutch is not the best on big dogs,upgrade to a better clutch,u will truly see a big difference,spectro primary is what I use,good luck.

Yes I am seeing this!! I never had this much problem with my custom that I had a S&S 113 with a Jims Tranny would shrewd the tire like crazy and pull the front wheel in 4-5 gear no problem!!

Just wish I had that money tree!!


Would shimming it for now help?

If you are looking for the "hookup" the Bandit from what others had said will get you that. The stock clutch pack just wasn't built to do what your asking. It was built to be smooth

Now that's funny right there! I didn't buy a fat tire big cubed rigid chopper for smooth, if I wanted smooth I would have bought a shaft driven Honda gold wing!!

I know what your saying tho but if that's really how they built these for then they sure missed the boat! Mine will not be this way for long.
