open primary or not?

Hey guys, I need some feed back. I'm looking at an ultima open drive set up. What are the pros and cons of the open primary? Is it the way to go?

I have a 4" karata in my garage just waiting for my engine to get back to install it... there is already a thread started on the pros vs cons.
one things is no more changing the primary fluid.

Best upgrade I did on my Chopper. Changed the whole dynamics of the bike and dropped 7 pounds on that side. Now it goes in and out of the twisties much better. Starts better. Shifts better and much easier to find neutral.

Karata 4" open belt drive on my 08 Mastiff, I love that thing and will be putting one on my 05 Ridgeback. Smooth shifting nice sounding whine and no more primary oil to change out.

Does "Ultima" make a open belt for 05 and later Big Dogs? Might want to confirm. If its for a standard Evo and trans if want fit 05 and later BD. 05 and later are a totaly different duck.

The ultima will not fit ,, in my opinion the baker is too small looking without the whine most of us look for ,, karata is the choice ,, my 2 cents

i agree,karata is the only way to go.Now if we could get Jim to crank some out.

Did a BDL and one of my favorite upgrades - Prefer BDL because other belts I looked at either had too much clutch chatter or the whine of the belt was too loud - louder than the pipes. BDL was just right.

TrickDog - very easy DIY - great step by step video on how to do it on BDL site (applies to any brand) Technical Video's

Make sure the belt drive is BD compatible. My bike is different in that I got fed up with BD Baker trans and welded in a stock trans plate so I am running a non-BD trans standard 6 trans set up for regular evo

Torque wrenches
Impact wrench preferred
