The pics below are my plugs after 19 miles and a few warm up cycles on the engine. I have changed to S&S rockers, 600 cam, decked the heads, removed the restrictors from the intake. Significant decel pop. They look lean to me but is there enough miles on them to tell? I did re-torque the exhaust flanges and they were a little loose. This may have contributed to the decel pop.
Left plug is the front.

wheres the problem?? your front cylinder will run a cooler than the rear, (the rear will be lighter in color cuz its hotter) I guess if you want you can up the jets one size and see what happens but I have been riding mine for a couple of years and they look just like that!! with your exhaust flanges loose you also may have been getting a lil air in there causing a lean run, try running down the hwy now... go for bout 10mi and pull over and check them dont wail til you get home!!!

Read your plugs correctly, you must stay in the RPM range of the jet you are trying to size, for intermediate jet i like to run down the road at about 2200-2300 RPM for 10-15 minutes then (very important) kill motor and pull over and check plugs, don't run it to the next burger joint!!
You do the same for main jet just well over 2500 RPM, once you get the hang of it it's easy.. Good luck

When I tune, I get the motor running correctly first, then read the plugs to check it once I'm all done. To be really accurate, you need to use a new set of plugs, and kill the motor in the RPM range you are checking like someone else said. IMO it's not very accurate unless you've got big problems. S&S has a great tuning guide on their page. I was always in the dark about it, until I decided to take a whole weekend to learn how changing jets effected the bike. Bottom line is that most changes are made with the Intermediate jet, and don't be afraid to bump up the air bleed. Really spend the time wringing the bike out so you get it right. When I do it I take the bike up to a gas station on a stretch of highway where nobody will bitch about me ripping through the gears, and make all my changes at the gas station, then go out and wring it out again until I get it right. Good Luck.

Just rejetted mine RRRUFF and had the dealer check it to make sure. He put in new plugs and was off. He said it was good to go and my plugs looked like yours.

or just stick it on a dyno. Accurate plug reading is nigh on impossible unless you really know what you are doing and have been doing it a while

Thanks for the info guys. I am in the middle of a mill shutdown right now and won't have time, but will get back on the bike in a week of so.
