Oil Tank

I have a 2007 Pitbull.....I made a oil tank dipstick and put a piece of 1/8 in heat shrink as the mark where the oil should be....don't ask me how but somehow it came off and fell inside the tank. Does anyone know if there is a screen inside the oil tank to filter the oil before it goes to the engine? Appears to be some sort of tube on the inside of the tank coming from the fitting on outside of the tank. I drained the oil and fished around with no luck. Appears to be some sort of 'pickup' tube on the inside, maybe not. If I can't get it out...do you think the oil filter or tappet screen will catch it...if left inside do you think it will cause any damage? The heat shrink size is about 1/8 X 1/8.... As always, any help is appreciated.

I think the upper stem line is the RETURN and the lower it the SUPPLY. I doubt neither have screens, but maybe someone here will know for sure.

You could make a contraption using a vacuum cleaner and a small 1/4" clear vinyl hose to fish around in the tank. Place some kind of a canister and filter/screen inline to verify when the tubing comes out.

I would recommend that you remove all the oil in the tank as good as you cane before using the vacuum.

Good Luck!

Can't help you with the existing problem, but if you take a file and etch the dipstick at the proper full line you won't have this problem again.
