Oil pressure?

This was after 10-15 minutes. That's pretty warm, but correct it will be lower after a 30 minute ride and this is a 107 not a 117. But for the most part I have 20-25 psi @ idle. Maybe it's the oil cooler?

Just done a search on Google..... all the discussions in different Forums and in the J&P Cycles tech talk page are saying the same thing... 5-10 psi @ idle and 30-35 psi cruising is the normal.

I'm telling you after a 30 min or 4 hr ride I'm still at 20-25 psi on my gauge
I'm with you on this one because my 107 has the same pressure which is not normal. I tried 2 different gauges and still the same. The only thing I can think of is BD got some hi pressure oil pumps to fool with or at a discount and put them in a few bikes. I'm at 50 lbs running hot and 25 idle. It could also be the oil line used to the gauge but I doubt it.

Well explain my presure then? I do know Big Dog 107" motors were built at S&S and high psi oil pumps were put on them. My EVO on my HD runs about 5-10 psi at idle when oil is hot but with the large Jagg oil cooler I have on it the motor NEVER gets above 180*! I have a Jagg diverter Manuel valve I use to bypass the cooler when the outside air is below 85*. I took my ambient air temp gauge out and put a oil temp gauge in my HD dash.

Where is the oil temp sender located?
My 01 ,107" pitbull has it at the bottom of one of the oil coolers.
140, on the gauge , is over 200 in the oil bag.(meat thermometer).

btw my oil pressure is about 8-10 at idle , #30 revved ( hot)

Gonna relocate the sender to the oil bag one of these days.

On my HD I installed it between the motor and the Oil filter so I'm getting oil that has just come out of the motor heading to the filter then the cooler.

Thanks for the feedback! Got another question! With low pressures on the Evo style engines, when choosing an oil filter, which would be better on the bypass psi? 8 or 17!? Or does it matter?

that is probably a better place than after the twin coolers as it is on mine.

I do not know what the bypass psi should be but make sure that you get hi flow oil filter! Very important. Oil filters for twin cam are NOT hi flow and are to restrictive.

No bypass on EVO oil filters, that's for TC engines.

Regard oil pressure S&S manual is 30-40psi at speeds and 10-15 at idle when hot.

And the pumps are High Volume Low Pressure pumps. EVO engines sump oil they dont require high pressure just heavy volume/flow.

The pumps will have a higher pressure if you use a heavier spring. You can easily increase or decrease pressure by changing out the oil pump spring to a heavier (high pressure) or lighter (less pressure).

Here in Texas before got the oil cooler I ran a heavier spring in the summer because I would be Damn near zero at idle if it was 100+ out I could here the top end knocking.
