oil level

Could someone please tell me if you check your engine oil with the dip stick screwed in or not. I have a 07 K9..Thanks, Craig

I check mine cold with the dip stick in and the bike on the kickstand. Level should be between the lines. As long as you can see oil at the bottom of the tank it is all good.

bike on the kickstand on level ground, oil at operating temperature, dipstick cleaned and just resting at the start of the threads (not screwed in).

if the oil is cold, too much of it may be in the crankcase instead of the oil tank. could cause you to overfill.
