07bigdog 07BIGDOG Sep 23, 2010 #2 I check mine cold with the dip stick in and the bike on the kickstand. Level should be between the lines. As long as you can see oil at the bottom of the tank it is all good.

W woodbutcher Mr. Old Fart member #145 Staff member Sep 23, 2010 #3 bike on the kickstand on level ground, oil at operating temperature, dipstick cleaned and just resting at the start of the threads (not screwed in). if the oil is cold, too much of it may be in the crankcase instead of the oil tank. could cause you to overfill.
