If you look at the bottom of the starter from the primary side, you'll see little D shaped indentions. (hard to see, look between the rear of the primary & the frame. I used a spotlight) The very bottom hole is where the oil escapes. If your drip is directly under that, its probably your starter.

just ck like you said no drip can be seen & the black hose is dry i guess let it sit and ck again?

Hey rigid300, Did you find the issue? Looks like I've got the same... Just had my 10k service done two weeks ago. I can't see where the link is coming from.

There is a starter rebuild kit that is designed to take care of the leak for the earlier starters were primary oil was seeping into the starter. It is a cheap kit and very complete and basically has some an additional seal for the shaft as well as some o-rings and other items including bearing to do complete mechanical and seal rebuild of starter.

Hey Guys... Just Got back from Tampa BDM and Mike took good care of me. Completely replaced my starter (and labor) no cost to me (and I have no warranty). The info here really helped... It was the primary oil leaking into the starter. I've got a 700 mile (sore a$$) ride planned for this weekend and the Tampa guys got me in and out quick! Can't say enough about them... they Always do me right!
