Oil leak from bike sitting for long period

My 2003 marks its territory once every new season. First ride of the season, after being stored all winter, I take it out for a ride around the block to let the engine and oil get hot. Come back, shut down and look it over. No issues. Come back 2 hrs later, and I have a oil spot under the bike.

Happens once every riding season, and doesn't do it again all summer to the fall. I've been told it has something to do with the sump.

Wet sump = Has no bag. Oil stays in the crankcase. Feeds transmission, crank, and clutch.

Dry sump = Has bag. Has a pump that is gravity fed. That weight or push from the bag being over the oil pump, can flow between the oil pump blades. With enough time, it can seep down into the crankcase. This has way too much volume of liquid, not air. So, one has to go. This is a total loss system, remember.

Check before every ride. Top it off. Oil is part of the cooling system. Too little is taxing on the parts = Heat. Enough oil is that balance.

An alternative is to have a shutoff valve in line. During the winter season storage, you turn it off. But, that will rust up the crank throws. I rather have a kitty litter kit under it. Kick the bike during football season. Go back in to watch the commercials. And if you have an excuse not kicking some oil over the crank and cylinder walls between men butt slapping each other....

The company just sent me this:

Okay Allan! I've got some good news. Unbeknowst to me, my inventory manager already put in the request to have repairs done to the bike. That Fuel leak is going to be taken care of for you, at our cost. It may take some time to get the parts in to do the maintenance, but we will do that for you.

Hi everyone, I am new to motorcycles and have loved Big Dogs since 2005. This would be my first motorcycle and I have some questions and concerns before I buy this Big Dog that I am looking at. This bike is about 6 hours from where I am so I am trying to do as much research before I make the drive to where it currently lives. Thanks for all of your help in advance.

I am looking at buying a 2003 Chopper. The current owner has not ridden the bike for over a year and when I saw a picture there was oil underneath. He said that was normal for a bike that sits for a long period of time and that there was a drain of some sort under the motor so its not leaking form a seal or anything. Also, he put a 3 1/2" open belt on it and said he has been told there are six springs inside of it and it needs 12. He has the original closed case that came with the bike and is going to give that with the bike and said it had nothing wrong with it. Do these things sound normal to anyone? Any suggestions as to what general servicing should be done on a bike that has sat for so long?
Post a pic of the bike. Does it have TP rocker boxes? Original EHC? Original ignition? There are other areas to consider than just the oil leak, but I would sort out exactly where the oil is coming from. If could be a case leak, or worse.
