Oil issue?

I changed my oil and after running a while when I checked the dip stick(on the stand) it didn't register any oil. I bought another quart, added it slowly and it took almost another full quart. Yesterday, I check the oil (cold engine), and it was way over on the dip stick....I fired up the bike and let it run a minute or so and checked the dip stick again and it almost down to the normal fill level...wtf?? any advise??

Well, I guess another question would be, did you scavange the oil too when you changed it? The oil returns back to the tank once the bike is stopped. Your supposed to check the level when the bike is in the normal running temperature range because the oil is routed to all sections of the engine while riding and that's when you want to check it. It'll register high when cold because it returns to the oil tank.:2thumbs:
