Odd incident

So yesterday I realigned my rear wheel. Got it where it needed to be and went for a test ride. Turned the gas on and took off. Bike was running good so I hit some back roads to open her up a bit. After a few times thru the gears the bike started to sputter and tried to stall out....I'm thinking "what the hell?" Its like it was running outta gas but I only had 15-20 miles on a full tank. So out of instinct I reached for the petcock and it was nearly in the off position!!!! The only explanation I can come up with is the vibrations from hitting it hard a few times caused the petcock to close.....? Just thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone else experiences something along these lines.

If your Petcock isn't loose turning, then you forgot to turn it all the way on. Sounds like human error.

Well thats what I first thought, but I distinctly remember turning it on full before I even backed it out of the garage. Kinda of a habit ya know... It wasn't even at reserve, it went past reserve and was almost closed. I had already ridden about 6-7 miles when it acted up.......Franco, I'll have to see if I can recreate the event. :D Keep ya posted.

How many beers did you have the night before?
Well it was a weekend so.......

UPDATE:
Ok Franco, I WAS able to reproduce the event. Went to the store and then for a rip around the county. Pulled into the drive and shut the bike off. Looked at the petcock and it was in the reserve position..... I turned it to the FULL position before I left and double checked it to make sure. SO, it would appear that my petcock is moving by itself....time for a new one, or maybe just slow it down some......guess I better get that petcock ordered!

wowww:eek: Harry, you might be the first one who came across this "Odd Incident"??? I don't know but, is there a screw or a way to tighten these things up? (I am not at home to check it out).

On the good side of this peculiar thing is that you've found out the cause straight away and not had to chase ghosts!!!

A good one to remember though :D
