I went out for a ride today and noticed the throttle did not return on it's own on my mutt. I still rode but had to twist the throttle back every time. When I got home I tried to adjust but I cannot see why it won't return. Both cables are in tack, no obstructions at carb. I went through 60 threads on here before writing this. Any ideers?

If your grip doesn't have the proper end play, it can hang up on the end of the bar. You should be able to move it in and out some.

Open up your switch housing, sometimes those brass ferrules will walk out and bind up. If you loosen up the adjustment screws does it return then?

I just checked for play in it again and it seems to be freed up as far as the grip and the bar.

No Al it still does not spring back when I loosen the adjustments. I will have to open the switch housing next.

Ok, I took the housing apart and found the handlebar and the inside of the grip to be bone dry so I lubed everything and as I was assembling a small circular piece of wire fell out of the switch housing. I am not sure where it came from but it may have contributed to the problem. Without the aid of (my wife) another pair of hands this could have been a prick to reassemble.
All good now. Thank you to Al and Vegas for your input.

Mines been like that for a while due to a frayed idle cable. Yesterday it actually jammed fully open, and I mean jammed, luckily I wasn't going down the road at the time. Opened up the switch housing and what a mess. 2 wires ripped out of the switches, ferrule was off the end of the throttle cable too. Luckily I picked up two new Barnett throttle cables on Saturday but fuck me they're expensive. Now need to get two new switches too. Fucker.

I had to replace a idel cable @ less than 2k miles bdm wont warrenty cables that is fucked I was in daytona had to stop ridin get a lift to a dealer bought the cable for 38.00 & installed it in the dark @ condo just so I could ride for the rest of the trip, you would think a cable would last longer than that, yea it was lubed @ 5oo mile service didn't make it to 2500, my hd has 41k on it never had one break yet

Last time my throttle started binding a little I took everything apart and lubed it up. Worked great after that.
