Just spoke with Tom at S&S Cycles. They just got the new unprogrammed ECM's in they should go on sell next week. They will be a bit more costly running about $900. Just thought yall would like the news update.
What do you mean new? As in some new design?Just spoke with Tom at S&S Cycles. They just got the new unprogrammed ECM's in they should go on sell next week. They will be a bit more costly running about $900. Just thought yall would like the news update.
Looks like there are some nice features there. Little pricey.Nice to know -- I've been wondering about what to do if the VFI goes on my bike.
I've been looking real hard at the unit from Daytonna Twin Tec -- looks like it will plug right up, can even get one with WIDE range O2 sensor (for like $890) and then just have to create a map for it. Might take a little time but shouldn't be too hard.
I like their options and they have a bluetooth adapter and logging built in so can use you tablet and also see the LAST HOUR of data not just an error code.
no worse than the S&S really. If above is correct, its 900 for S&S, 885 plus 94 for Daytonna and that's with new O2 sensors! So only marginally more.Looks like there are some nice features there. Little pricey.
Not new design but components. Tom explained to me that the older componets they had been using were no longer available so they had to upgrade the internal componets. Then they had a software issue with those new componets. Hence why they hadnt been available since Oct of last year. But he said the kinks and bugs were worked out and they will be going on sell again next week. Im planning on getting one with the wide band O2 sensors kit. And having it installed and hopefully the shop doing the work will remember how to program a none locked map in it. LolWhat do you mean new? As in some new design?
They have sold unlocked VFI's forrever for ~600
Oh I didn’t. Realize that. Not new design but components. Tom explained to me that the older componets they had been using were no longer available so they had to upgrade the internal componets. I’ve heard this several times now how is it the transmission shaft doesn’t break when applying 150 ft/lbs of torque to the clutch hub nut?I put a thunderherart ECM in my bike many years ago and did away with the ECH. Could fully tune it from home and made 150 hp and 150 tq from my 117 cu in bulldog. Had John Sacks do my heads and everything else stock. I blew 5 transmissions which I and baker worked on.. They said thy built the transmission to big dog specs. Backer did build be a couple of transmissions with stronger dogs. Originally Big Dogs are only capable to handle about 100 pounds of torq8ue before the transmission goes south. Not a Baker issue but Big Dg Specs
I expect it is because 150ft/lbs when the hub is stationary is different then 150ft/lbs INSIDE the transmission and that 150ft/lbs is momentary when torquing the nut.I’ve heard this several times now how is it the transmission shaft doesn’t break when applying 150 ft/lbs of torque to the clutch hub nut?
I actually contacted Thunderheart and was told they didnt make an ECM or anything for Big Dogs. So i gave up that route and got in touch with S&S and spoke to Tom. The day i called they had just got their first new programmable ECM in that day. He was looking it over and then they would have some in the next week.I put a thunderherart ECM in my bike many years ago and did away with the ECH. Would you happen to have the part # for the "hardened shaft kit"? I'm assuming it must be the transmission main shaft. The main issue with the BD trans is the undersized main input bearing which the Baker belt drive does help with due to the outer pulley support.I actually contacted Thunderheart and was told they didnt make an ECM or anything for Big Dogs. Now my 06 Mastiff is pushing 144 hp and 137 ft-lbs torque. I have contacted Baker and to keep from bending the main shaft, i had to buy a hardened shaft kit, and the bely drive with outter bearing support. They say with that i can handle about 140-145 ft-lbs of torque now.
It was a few years ago, I dont remember the part numbers. But you ordered it for me when i bought the belt drive from you, since baker wouldn't sell to me directly. Then you shipped it or had it dropped shipped to that place that did all that work to my bike in 2016. I had spoke with Baker and they gave me the part numbers and i gave them to you to order.
