Getting ready to install new fender struts to take accept the sissy bar in the morning, any good suggestions on seperating the connectors from the wires?

Buy the little tool that removes the pins from the connector. They can be a bear to remove. And if your not careful they will brake off. I know from experience.

Where do you get that? and what is it called? I had heard about them being basterds...

Any one knows about that would be apprecieated. I don't want to go into a place and ask about a thingy to remove wire thingy's.:) I mean I will...

No problem......its really easy to do. I've already made all the mistakes a person can make installing one....I'm a expert now :D The pins are the only difficult part. Buy the LED connector tool and some blue locktite and it'll be a piece of cake. Post some pics of the finished product :2thumbs:

I straightened out one end of a large paper clip and the took a pair of pliers and flattened the first 3/8" of the end of it so it would slide easily in along the pin and it worked perfect everytime without any damage. Cheap too!!!

hey Chain...were did you get your struts from?
Bought them on Ebay from shovelheadkicker. Bought as a set, struts, sissy bar, luggage rack, and sissy pad. Good deal, he just sold one for a steal under 500 for the whole lot.

I did get them on and I will post pix, forgot them this morning.

Chain,
sorry for the late post but when I did my struts, I cut a groove in the back of them to 'sandwhich' the wiring between the struts and the fender. My tire kept grinding the wiring sometimes so I removed the tube that runs inside the fender for the wiring completely.

It was a problem for my bike, not sure if they've changed that stuff on the newer bikes.

Finally got to post the pics of the K9 with the new sissy bar installed.

Before:

Slaving away...After putting the struts on and the fender...

& finished

Then I added these from Wicked Image (thru Nelson of Wicked Basterd)

Thanks for all the advise, I used it all and this transition was made very simple. Next is the V&H 2 into one.

Looks great Shane and love the paint on your dog :2thumbs:

Did the pins give you a hard time? Like to have never got mine out of the connector.

No they didn't, but only because of all the good advice I got here. Can't imagine how I'd done it with out you all. I bought one of those tools.:)

Damn I wish I would have seen this and the associated links before I tried, haha. I fought for 2 freakin hours and never got the wires out of the connectors. Now that I'm educated I guess I can try again tomorrow.
