new petcock, need advice

this isnt really "general" topic, more like "fuel", but more people here...

anyway,

replacing my petcock on my k-9:

has anyone else had trouble with the o-rings going in theres?

what should i out on the threads on the new one to make a good seal?

yellow teflon tape should be the easiest route, it is the one for gas/chemical use. or maybe pipe dope.

Not sure exactly what you are talking about here Darcy.

I haven't had any issues with mine and it's an 04'. As far as the new one, some people chose to put teflon on the threads. I used pipe dope. You can get it at pretty much and hardware store. Last time I had mine off for cleaning I used the dope and haven't had any gas leak.

o-rings sucked right from new. bike would run with the fuel off. just recently i couldnt turn it to reserve or off, it would just stay on. removed and replaced it with a pingle.

Loctite 567 for the threads. Seems to work for me (Usually get it from McMaster Carr)
