Having ridden my Vintage Classic for ten years without modification, always appreciating the geometry straight from the factory, I thought I would share what happened when I finally did do what I always wanted to. From the day I sat on my Vintage Classic, I wished my grips were a couple inches up and a couple inches back. I finally did that last year with pull-back risers. Well, I kind of always wished my floorboards were forward about three inches too and did that at the same time. Ok, so ... now I sit slightly reclined like I always loved on my springer. Well here's the deal. My Vintage always seemed to have a center of gravity somewhere up between my knees with lots of weight on the front end. I got used to it but would get comments from my friends when they would ride it how odd it was to have that heavy front end. Well, now that I succeeded at rotating my riding position about 15 degrees back with my torso and forward with my legs I notice the front end got substantially lighter and nimble. I felt it immediately but did not give it much credit until I rode it from east Texas to Phoenix and could really register more than a thousand miles. I am surprised that my riding position would have so much effect on the balance of the bike.
