I was just fooling around with mine a little and discovered that the set screw was contacting only the top edge of the flat spot and the set screw was loose. Had to shorten the kickstand a little to hit more of the flat spot. That could have been a disaster. Have to keep an eye on it or weld mine also. Fucking Arlen Ness.
Thanks for the offer to weld mine zenBD.

Sorry, put it all back together and used Lock Tight on everything. The internal threads of the bottom section with the "foot" has the flat spot that runs the length of the threads maybe an inch or more. My set screw is in the backside of the upper section, when screwed in contacts the flat spot
I am thinking about drilling and tapping for another set screw so I have two holding the position of my foot. If I do I will take pictures then. Jim

Here's a shot of the stand extended out so that you can see the flat spot. Idea is that when adjusted to a preferred length, the flat spot should be lined up with the set screw hole. The set screw should then hold the stand where you want it. This did not work for me... I loctited the set screw and the big nut around the outside of the stand and mine still moved. It really should have a detent for the set screw as opposed to a flat spot.
