Negative Post Melt Down & Now No Spark..

I have a 1999 Vintage Sport and I'm having a few issues. I've been searching and cannot find any info on what I'm experiencing.

A little back ground....I purchased the bike over a month ago. It had been sitting for close to 10 years so I know there would be issues so I took to my local bike shop. It's been there for little over a month. Fluids replaced, tanks lined, tires replaced, new battery, new intake gaskets, brake pads, master carb kit and rebuild and last of all new ignition.

Got the bike back yesterday afternoon. Took out this morning and ended up on the side of the road with a dead bike and smoke pouring out from under my ass.....

Pulled the seat and found that the negative post melted clean off......Called a friend and got the bike back home. Called another buddy and he said it was more than likely the regulator. He said that it was over charging and caused the melt down.

Installed new battery so I could start it and test the voltage and now I do not have spark......

Where do I go from here? I'm mechanically inclined and plan of working on my bike from here on out due to my less than wonderful experience with my local bike shop.....

Thanks,

Bill

Maybe I should of posted in the help section...Please delete...
