Need Trans output seal?

Hey guys, I have a 2005 ridgeback with the baker 6 speed trans, RHD, I need to replace the output shaft seal...(the seal on the clutch side) is this common and can I get this from a local shop? your help welcomed with part number or input..thanks guys

I had a leak come from that area a while back (also a 05 ridgeback) but for a different issue. Thought I needed a new seal. When i tore into it and took the final drive pulley off the trans it turned out to be an inset hex screw/plug behind the pulley that had backed off. It was leaking trans oil from there. Took 2 seconds to retighten and it's been good ever since.

I have actually had both of these problems. First time was the set screw and then later replaced the out put shaft seal. Fairly easy job. Not sure about the part number but should be able to get it from dealer, I did.

A couple questions, I have one of the issues either a seal or a drain plug. I have everything apart and now need to take the pulley off. First question, what size socket fits the pulley nut, is it a 1 7/8"? That's what I measured. Second without the pulley lock how did you break the nut loose, with it on the ground and holding the brake?

Mine is under warranty but my dealership is 130 miles away and if it's just the plug then that's easy and I am more careful with my bike than anyone else.

I used an impact wrench with trans in neutral and someone holding the rear brake. My bike was actually on a jack. Don't remember the socket size but 1 7/8 sounds right. This is what mine looked like.

I wouldn't use the brake, I have seen guys smoke rake seals doing it that way!

If it is something other than the plug that you and a couple others had issues with, I'll use the warranty. My labor is free and as I said I am much more careful with my bike than the dealer. Thanks for the info :up:

That is a possibility Jake, I figured with an impact wrench it didn't take alot of brake pressure just some resistance. But none the less don't over do it.

So I have it all back together but too late to fire it up and go down the road, I hate that. Anyway, seal looked fine and it looked like the source of my leak was the same plug RRRuff mentioned. Mine wasn't leaking bad so it was harder to tell than in the pic RRRuff posted. I still believe that was it though. Pulled the plug out put some teflon tape on it and now I just need to let the Dog run out and we'll see. Should stop raining this weekend :2thumbs:

Good deal, mine was the plug fixed that and about 3 months later seal started leaking. The original seal was hard and brittle replaced with new no problem now.
