need jump after sitting 2 days?

before i started messing with my speedo calibration today, i had to jump the bike off. i just brought it back from houston 200+ miles with no problems. the bike has been in the garage...in texas...yes its been a little cold here...for the past 2 days. was sluggish right from the start...or not start. i was told it had some upgraded starter and batter. forgot the name of the battery, but was told they had to drob the battery box a little to get it to fit.
anyway, is this normal for these bikes? i see alot of talk about trickle chargers but didnt think id need for just sittin g2 days.

'supposed' to be a new battery. so even in the middle of summer when you are riding every other day keep it on a tender?

yup,these dogs need all the battery they can get,they will run the battery down quick when starting if not charged up

thanks. ill be heading out to get one today. must put it on 6 and let it sit? dont they only run for 12 hours? just start turn it back on again?

i dont use a tender and it cranks right up.

make sure your connections are tight.

check the plug at the voltage regulator is connected

when the bike is running make sure its charging about 14 volts. if not check the breaker in line with the VR wire.

stock ignition needs 12.8 to fire

i have a dynatek 2ki which fires at about 12 volts

I have a 1.5 amp tender that I leave on it. With the tender, I can "try to start" my bike for like 10-15 minutes. 410 CCA drag battery.

I'd put one on the bike, but from previous experience with motorcycles, 4 wheelers and jet skiis, it seems like no matter what you do, these batteries are 2 year batteries.

Tender is the life of a battery. They drop about 2% a day without one. and when let go down they never return to their highest point. So when a battery is say 2 years old and has not been kept up they may say that they are 100% charged but they are not 100 to where they were new, every time they run down they never return to that high point again. Thats where you get a battery that says it is 100% charged and does not have enough in it to start a motor.

LOL, yeah. I installed my cruise mate last week and I'm working on re-adjusting my throttle cables. I shoulda been more specific. It'll fire right up when set right, just finding the optimal spot between rain and show showers. Not much time to get it out.

I hope you knocked on wood. :roll: You don't need a tender on it for only two days between starts. I let mine sit for 2 weeks all the time and it spins over great.

I have a 2006 K9 and just replaced a battery due to being a dead battery and it is still hard to start. does anyone know about problems with Electronic Control Module (ECM)

Batteries are an odd thing.

I replaced mine in my mastiff at the 2.5 year mark. Gave it a full charge before installing it in the pup.

The battery in my HD has been there since 2002 and I start it about every 4 months just fine.

The battery in our 450 quad has been there since april 2005 and it has never been on a tender, and sits outside in an enclosed trailer for 6 months at times, and cranks up just fine.
