Damn coil went out again:angry:. This makes the fifth one in three years.:bang: I'd love to do the dual dyna coils but $$'s tight. Anybody got a dual fire coil layin around they would get rid of? The dual fire is the one with two wire post not three. Or maybe a dual setup they would part with.:D (That would be soo cool.) Let me know how much.

The chances of having 5 coils bad in 3 years is astronomical!!!

There's not many things that'll kill a coil:

1. the wrong rating for your ignition module.
2. the coils you're buying are total pieces of shit.
3. or they're overheating because of how they're mounted.

I'm sure there's probably a couple more things that will kill a coil but I'm thinking that you may want to do a little troubleshooting before you put another one in...

Been replacing the one that was on the bike when I got it. Drag Specialties part #2102-0060 3ohm electronic dual fire. I have wondered if its the right one. Its the half round one with the post and the plug wires on top mounts with two allen bolts going up from the bottom. Somebody tell me I been puttin the wrong coil on it and thats the problem.

Your bike has electronic ignition, right? (I had to ask since I don't know specifics about the 2000.)

And, when you say your coil is bad what do you mean?

Thanks for the help Dennis.
I guess its electronic...should be its got the thunderheart ehc. The way I know its bad is the first replacement I bought broke. The mounting point on the side actually broke off and the coil was hanging buy the wires. I kept that coil as a test coil. Bike fires right up with the test coil installed but there is no way to mount it.

Wilbur, I upgraded the ignition on my '99 Bulldog last year, I think I saved the old coil which was working fine with the Thunderheart ignition. If I did keep it, I will let you have it for the shipping to get it to you. I will look when I get out in the shop and let you know.

Sorry man, I knew I tossed the EHC since it was the problem, but I thought I kept the coil just in case. Checked the spare parts and I must have tossed it too.
