My Ridgeback got the nod over my Bourget

For the last 8 months I have owned both my 08 Ridgeback and an 07 Python 330. I finally decided it was a waste to own two similar style bikes and decided to sell one. From the title, you know which one I sold.

While I loved the looks of the Python (47 degree rake and springer front end) and also like the way it handled (although I was often concerned about hitting my heals on turns because it sat so low), it was not nearly as reliable. It also was not a good bike for 2 up. My brother rode both and thought the BD was much more comfortable.

In the end, the BD remained and I am very happy with this decision. In fact, I haven't missed the Bourget at all. One BD does everything I need and has been very reliable for me. Not mention, this forum provides excellent support if an issue arises. No more feeling bad because one bike is not being used. Sold a FatBoy earier this year that was also sitting idle due to the BD. I guess I am a one bike guy.

Now to find another toy - 70 Chevelle Big Block would be fun.

Yup the bd are good scoots... altho I wouldn't mind havein a bourget with a 330....what were some of the problems with reliability for the bourget?

It had constant starter problems. Mine had a 124 and I had to have the starter rebuilt and then installed a new one. Still was having issues (disclosed) when it was sold. All in 8 months. Also, the 124 coupled with the Jims Fat Five tranny didn't have a good gear for crusing at 40mph. 4th was too sluggish and 3rd seemed to be revving to high. Minor issue but noticeable.

I admit, the bourget was a meaner looking bike, but not worth the extra money in my opinion.
