MY MOTOR LOOKS LIKE S**T - WHAT NOW?

Energy One
pretty much says it all, my motor looks like complete ass, looks like permanent water marks on the fins/rest of it. How do I clean inbetween the fins, and with what? It pretty much looks like an orange tint inbetween the fins, and just makes the bike look like crap. Went over to J&P and they gave me something in a black spray bottle, but want to make sure its not bad for it.
Thanks!!

polish, pimp stixx, and elbow grease. or maybe a small dremel/die grinder with some felt bobs and polish.

(now, when i say pimp stick, i'm talkin' about something like a popsicle stick or tongue depressor.)

Paint sticks from Lowes and Home depot work well also. I use the thinner ones that tend to break when stirring paint! As mentioned above, popsicle sticks are great for the smaller hard to get into areas and you get to eat popsicles if you don't have kids.:D

so until I powder coat and diamond cut (who could do diamond cutting anyways) should I use a billet polish? I have mothers billet in the garage, maybe I'll go try that???

CLR works well for cleaning motors....couple of threads on here for that.

Why would you want to powdercoat the motor??? I get more compliments from my polished motor than my buddy gets on his entire HD. But I get that alot! :)
Pisses him off that people walk around his $40k HD to look at my $12K bike. Makes me smile...

only one place to do diamond cutting. They are in henderson neveada, just outside vegas. can't think of the name, but google and you'll find them

One of the old ones.
I noticed wifey polishing her fingernails one day. She had a little gadget shaped like an Emory board, but had two smooth polishing surfaces with foam in between...so I stole it and tried it on my K9 engine fins. Turns out that fit pretty well and the foam kept a nice even pressure on the top and bottom fins. I've always have problems with that using rigid sticks. A thin cotton rag around it to polish and buff seemed to work best...with Mothers Billet polish.
I have found different types, and noticed that there is a little variability in the thicknesses too. The best ones have a plastic spine in them which makes them stiffer and they last longer. Next time I'll see which of them works best.
I know Mastiff Dave is prepping for the upcoming Pre-BBB ride, and will have his fins finely shined. He will also benefit from the best buffed and polished nails in the group except Biker Babe....

Just a thought !!! Harbor Frieght has a very cheap nock off version of a miny dremel type tool that is much slower for about $9. It turns slower than the faster dremel models,, probably take more patience, but would possibly not leave the burn marks that a dremel can. I sharpen my chainsaw with one after I fried my dremel. It is a little slower but it works.

And it is Cheap too!
