My first Big Dog Experience

I just bought a 05 Big Dog PitBull. After riding it for about ten minutes the transmission went bad. The transmission was just rebuilt at a Big Dog dealer in Nevada and they said they only warranty thier work for thirty day and it had been fifty days. The bike only has 2600 miles n it and Big Dog will not do anything to help. Baker cut me a deal on a new one so I got that part fixed no thanks to Big Dog. Rode the bike for four hundred miles and the whole bike shut down. I guess it is the EHC and Big Dog said they will not do anything about it because it has the black potting material instead of the clear so it isn't part of the recall. I tried to put a new battery on it and the starter went crazy even with the key off. I disconnected the green wire on the starter and the starter quit trying to activate but all the gauges and and lights went crazy and it doesn't matter if I turn the key on or not but the bike will not start. I am open to suggestions till I can afford the EHC elimination kit. After buying the bike and a transmission I do good to get gas to go to work.

So sorry to hear about your problems, I understand about the money part but if it were me I would just replace whatever is bad which is probably the EHC untill you can afford the ditch the wiring and then you could sell your ehc, just my thoughts. If you were closer I'd be glad to come over and help.

I appreciate the offer Thumper but I think I might need to replace it all once then be broke down all day waiting on a ride with my wife.

What do you have in mind Chopper? I had seen a post about the same problem somewhere in the forum but the was not a conclusion.
(Maybe I should have stuck with the sport bikes)

sounds like you have a dead ehc. Look around on ebay or something to see if you can find a used one for sale.

I would have the dealer download the ignition and see how the previous owner treated the bike. Not a lot of issues with the transmission so if you are on your third then there must be another reason.

This is what one looks like and it will give you a idea of how the previous owner took care of the bike you now have!

Odds are that scoot was abused in a previous life. As Ray noted, get the dlr to print out a copy of the history and then post it here.

Big Dog has a 2 year warranty, and it looks like your scoot has been out of warranty for a year or 2, so not sure what you expect BDM to do about this issue.

Some dealers are better than others, hope yours will work with you.

I have been dealing with Cycle City in Kingsport TN. They have taken care of me on the lobor side. I just ordered the rewire kit so I shouldn't have to worry about it now. Hopefully it won't take too long to install it.

YA KNOW. A couple guys here have done the rewire just to find out that they were haveing the same probems that they were haveing before. Make darn sure that this will fix you issue. That is alot of chedar to drop for the wrong reason. Something is causing your ehc issues.
