My Dog's Backfiring

I just got my 2005 Chopper back from the Dealer who did a mid-summer service & tune-up on it, and the bike is backfiring a LOT. They changed the spark plugs too, so I thought it might be a combination of new plugs + some bad Citco gas

My Dealer's 75 miles away, so rather than ride it back up there I would like to try and correct this myself.

I'm going to fill up with Shell 93-octane + add some octane booster + tweak the air/fuel mixture screw on the Super G carb.

Any other suggestions?? :loony:

Sounds like a good plan.

When you say it is backfiring, is it through the carb-intake or is it just a decel poping?

Also did it start from the get go after picking up at the dealer or come on gradualy after the service.

Hopefully it was not from the get go, for then I would want ot ask my stealer WTF, do they not know of a real test ride.

Hoepfully the adjustment in the mixture screws, some good gas and new spark plugs will take care of it.

Also is there any mods that would require the use of the 93 and octane booster? Do not get me wrong, I use the highest octane in mine, but not because it is needed most time, but due to the variable of the ratings and to be on the save side. Never had to use octane booster without having some change in compression ratio. The octane rating is designed to prevent pinging and knocks at the extream, not a back firing issues.

Let us know how you make out and hopefully it is just a simple adjustment.
