After a 150 mile ride last weekend, I noticed an oil drip under the Mutt when I got home. Put the bike up on the jack and discovered some frayed oil lines where they touched each other. Gave a call to Steve at Biker's Dream who hooked me up with 3 new lines and did the install myself. It was necessary to drop the front pipe in order to gain access to the fitting on the oil filter boss. As a temporary fix, I used some clear plastic tubing sections over the lines where they touched other lines. I'll replace these with some oil line seperators. There was one seperator on the lines, but it's apparent BDM needed to use a couple more to prevent this fraying.
I talked with oldmutt and turk1, who also own Mutts, and they've had to replace some oil lines as well. My bud's got a Mutt, and we checked his and found some fraying starting as well. So, if you've got a Mutt or Coyote, you may want to take a good look at the oil lines. My bike's got 13K miles on it.
No matter what model you have, it would be a good idea to inspect the oil lines before a problem develops.
