After 42 years in Minnesota I'm moving to Texas. I will be working in Irving. I need any advise I can get on what areas I look at to move into. I want to rent for like 6 mos. to a year so I can get a feel for where to buy. I want to keep rent under $1200. I was down here in February and visited Strokers. I have been staying in a hotel and decided to stop by there last Saturday. One Big Dog on the floor!

Thanks for any help I can get with area advise.

Welcome to the South, much more time to run the dog!! We still got riding weather until end of December.

As for where to live working in Irving it all depends on what you want and how far are you willing to drive. I have only been in Dallas area for 2.5 years (moved from Boston) but I can tell you there is more road construction in and around this city than anywhere else I have been. It is like they are just never happy.

You can easily find an apt for $1200 in the DFW area.

The riding seaon was definately a factor in my decision to move. I would like to rent a house or townhouse. Need a garage for sure.

Look in the Las Colinas area. Very nice, lots to do and close to Irving. Look it up on Google and you will have a better idea of what I am talking about.

If you need any further input just reach out to me via PM. I can get you all the information you need.

Agreed Los Colinas probably best bet. Close to work, lots of living places to choose from.

Best place to look for rental or buying in the state of texas is Har.com. Har.com is a High End detailed website for homes mostly started in houston and spead all over texas. Har is called Houston Area Realtors and a great start for anyone looking to buy or rent residential or commercial. Am from Houston and we have riding weather year round cuz it rarely ever snow and its never cold enough not to ride. Construction does play a big factor down here too because too many people keeps moving down here cuz of our Job growth. If you're in the engineering, oil n gas, medical, etc. there is always a job opening here. Just saying. the downside here is ....Big dog close down....WHAAAA!!! But I am not worried cuz for one..the people were nit very nice there and two ...John Millar of Millar Machine has his own shop did my upgrades and maintence on my k9. the guy knows his stuff because he used to work for big dog for a long time. Anyway I bid you great luck becuase its always great to have more big dog bikers close by to ride together!

X3 Las Colinas, Coppell or even Grapevine are all good. Let me know, I live right up the road from there. Been down here 6 years from Michigan. Only parked the bike for Feb last year for the one freezing rain storm we had. If you can handle anything above 40 degrees, you're pretty good to go all year.
