I just bought a trailer but it has barn doors. Of course I was looking for a trailer with a rear door ramp, but I got a great deal, and I figured I would find a ramp.

So, any suggestions on a good ramp?? Harbor Freight has a 6' allum. ramp that will probably work, but it's only 6', and it's not long enough to get the bike up on the trailer with out messing up the underside of the bike... Unless I park the trailer in a way that lowers the rear end..
Also, does anyone have one they are no longer using?

I have the same deal, go to advance auto parts , they have some perfect ones for our dogs , priced around 135.00

I thought about the wood, But I want it to be wide enough to ride up and beable to put my feet down if needed. And I don't want to lug around 3 long pieces of wood.

No Advanced Auto Parts, around here. But I will go check out the local auto part stores, I didn't think of that. How long are the ones you have from Advanced Auto?

JP Cycles sells a 8 foot folding ramp 12" wide for around $140. When its folded you carry it like a suitcase.

funny story, I used to use a 10x2 for getting my sportbikes out of the back of pickups....till this happened. I was using a friends a truck and had purchased a race ready rocket (Miller Geniune Draft themed/painted). Well I arrive at my place very early in the morning (2:30am or so) really tired asand as you will see not thinking straight. Grabbed (1) 10x2 and took the tailgate off, got all the tie downs off jumped on the bike and started to roll the bike down the ramp with me on it (rider position) till I got the majority of the bike on the ramp. Ok so here is were it gets funny....I was completely alone, and I was on the bike with the majority of the bike on the ramp,I was balancing it with my feet on the pick-up bed. CRAP!!! I got no way to get this thing down the ramp safely.......I couldn't get off the bike and walk it down cuase the bike was on the downward run..couldn't push the bike back into the bed becuase I had NO LEVERAGE or even another board beside me to put my feet down. So at the time the best thing I could come up with was "I sure hope my balance is on" at that point I lined up the front wheel as best I could and pushed off the pick up bed with my feet. everything went allright except for the last 3 feet.....bike went off the side with me attached....needless to say it needed a new paint. job :angry::angry::bang::bang::loony::loony:

I just bought a pickup and want to pickup some ramps also and have found motorcyclesramps.com to be an excellent source. Looking for some I can ride the bike up into the bed. I'm not going to skimp on ramps anymore.

Beast I'm with you. I bought a set a few years ago that are 6' and 8" wide. They don't do the trick, even putting the dog in the trailer. I must back my trailer in my driveway partially, and I have to come down by driveway, or it rubs the bottom. Or have my trailer backed up to an elevated spot. Then I am worried about riding it up down, because I can't get my feet down.. So I am buying a set that will work, and I will be able to do it by myself. I just found a set by Ohio Steel, that have an arch in them. Each ramp is 7' X 14", so 28" wide, and I think the arch will get the bike in trailer without a problem.. And they are not a bad price..... They won't work for a bike on a fullsize truck, but they will allow to get my 4 wheeler in the truck a lot easier. And I think they would be the right length for a trailer, and a dog... Here is the site.

Jimi, I was thinking the same thing when I was looking but I saved a little over $2000, so I figure I'm ok with buying a ramp It does suck having to get one, but It's needed even if my trailer had a ramp.

i used to have a trailer like that....i used angle iron and expanded metal to make a ramp wide enough for my geezer glide, and be able to ride it up with my feet on the ramp. the way i stored it was like the u haul trucks. i used some larger angle iron, welded the the underside of the framing. to store it i slid it down the the under side and slid it into the angles. i secured it with pins in the angle and ramp. those same pins also secured it to the trailer so it didnt slide off while loading/unloading. take a good look at one of the u hauls...very simple to fabricate to your needs.....hope this helps!!!

Jimi, Your right!..... if there was a $500 difference I would have gone with a ramp....
Oh well.

Hey Chuck, I thought about that, but I was thinking of mounting the one I buy under the trailer..... I didn't think about using angle iron and the expanding metal. That's a good idea. I will look into that.
