Metzler Sidewall Split

I put a brand new set of Metzler tires on my scoot. In a week the sidewall split on the rear tire. There is what looks like a pour mark around the sidewall where the rubber cooled and was repoured as whoever was pouring stopped to fart then resumed pouring it! Avons Metzlers....All SH*T!!! See the pic.

That sucks. I'd push them hard for some kind of future credit or refund for your trouble not to mention what could of happened if that thing blew out on a fast stretch.

Love the anology! Could almost picture it.

Black Label Choppers ordered me a new rear tire. They contacted Metzler who will schedule a pickup of my defective tire. After they see it they will determine if it is defective. Aside from that I imagine it will be a losing battle to get them to pay for the installation.
Thanks Joe!

Surely they will make good on that! Seems like too many bad tires around these days. How does one choose? I like my Avon Venoms!

Pretty soon will be no wide tire without bad rep.

I think Avon and Metzler are the only two companies making a 300/35r18 these days Shovel.

Damn sorry to hear this. I hope they get you a free tire, and I hear ya on the labor. The shop I went through at least went in halfs for the labor. They're a bunch of good people, didn't have to do that...

I also like my Avon Venoms and use them on two bikes. Raywood went close to 15,000 miles on Cobras and there has been a lot of bad feedback on them lately.

Ray also has a 250 and not a 300. Most of the problems I've seen here with the cobras involve the 300 tires.

Damn, that sucks. I've got about 4k on my current set of Metzlers, and have used them on other bikes in the past without any issues. Hope this is an isolated incident.

What's the date code stamp on that tire. It may have been sitting in the warehouse for years and go hard.

I will check the build date. It is does not look like dry rot. I have seen dry rotted tires before. The rubber on this tire is soft.

Oops, don't tell Ray his back tire is small. If it only involves 300 back tires, whoopie for me. Sounds like a production issue only.
